Washington County Release Meaning
A release record answers a narrower question than the live jail page. It identifies the end or change of a particular custody event. At the Washington County Correctional Facility, a person may leave after bond, a court order, dismissal, time served, a completed county sentence, or another lawful discharge. The person may also leave because Washington County transferred custody to ODOC, another jail, a federal authority, or immigration officials. Death and escape can remove a name from an ordinary roster as well. For that reason, the record should name both the custody that ended and the manner of departure.
There is no single universal document called a release record. The sheriff’s jail register is the most direct local source. The court docket may explain the order or case event behind the exit. Oklahoma VINE reports a custody-status change, while ODOC records address state incarceration or supervision. Each source records a different act. When exact proof matters, reconcile the sources instead of treating roster absence as the final answer.
- Time served
- A sentence or ordered jail term satisfied by days already spent in custody.
- Transfer
- A move to another custodian, not a release to the community.
- Parole
- Conditional physical release from prison for the balance of a sentence.
- Probation
- Court-ordered community supervision, often tied to a suspended sentence.
- Discharge
- The end of ODOC jurisdiction, distinct from leaving a prison on parole.
Note: A Washington County roster disappearance identifies a question about custody change, not the release answer itself.
Washington County Release Types
The next search depends on how the person left. A bond release sends a defendant back to the community while the case continues. A dismissal may end the pending charge, though other cases or holds can still matter. Completion of a county sentence differs from transfer into state custody. The labels below describe useful distinctions supported by the local and state records, but they are not a promise that the Washington County database uses each phrase as an exact code.
| Release or custody event | What it means | Best next record |
|---|---|---|
| Bond or court-ordered release | Pretrial county custody ends while the case may remain open. | Jail discharge entry and court docket |
| Time served or sentence completion | The local jail term has been met. | Jail register, judgment, and time-served entry |
| Dismissal or acquittal | A court action may support release, subject to other holds. | Certified court order and jail discharge entry |
| ODOC transfer | County custody ends and Oklahoma state custody begins. | ODOC offender record and transfer notation |
| Federal or ICE transfer | Another government becomes the custodian. | BOP, ICE, federal docket, or agency record |
| Parole or probation | The person is in the community but may remain under state supervision. | ODOC status, PPB record, and assigned office |
Does posting bond mean the charge ended? No. Bond explains why pretrial jail custody may end. It does not by itself establish dismissal, acquittal, or completion of a sentence.
Washington County Release Record Fields
Oklahoma’s jail-register rule provides the core field set when the agency keeps the information. A focused request should identify the person, approximate stay, booking or case number if known, and the electronic format wanted. Ask for both the date and the manner of discharge. Those two points are not interchangeable. The timestamp shows when Washington County custody changed, while the manner can distinguish a community release from a transfer.
| Field | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Prisoner name and description | Identity details used to match the right custody event. |
| Commitment date | When the recorded jail commitment began. |
| Cause and authority | The stated basis and authority for commitment. |
| Criminal-offense flag | Whether the commitment related to a criminal offense. |
| Date of discharge or escape | When the county custody event ended or changed, if kept. |
| Manner of discharge or escape | How the person left, such as release, transfer, or another recorded event. |
| Requested custody details | Release type, receiving authority, destination, booking sheet, or event history if recorded and public. |
A booking image is not named in the minimum jail-register list. Request the existing photograph tied to the identified booking, but do not assume that one exists or that every part must be disclosed. Redaction and lawful exemptions can apply. A booking entry also does not prove guilt, conviction, or the current legal status of a case.
Washington County Bond Release Timing
Washington County uses two official bond-posting routes. The Court Clerk accepts bond during weekday office hours, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. After hours, posting occurs at the Washington County Correctional Facility. The sheriff also warns that a bond must be complete and properly notarized. Once a case has been filed, the case number is required.
These rules explain where paperwork is accepted, not when a person will walk out. Jail staff may still need the valid bond, court data, identity checks, property processing, and a review of other holds. No official source gives a fixed bond-to-exit time. The discharge entry and court docket should later be checked together because the clerk’s act, the jail’s processing, and the person’s physical exit may occur at different points.
The official Washington County bond schedule is visible in the county’s published interface.
The capture supports the weekday clerk and after-hours facility split without implying a promised release hour.
Note: A valid bond can end pretrial custody while the Washington County criminal case continues.
Request Washington County Release Records
The Washington County Sheriff’s Records Division processes Open Records requests at 611 SW Adams Blvd., Bartlesville, OK 74003. The sheriff’s office number is 918-332-4000. The reviewed page had no usable downloadable request form, no set response time, and no published release-record retention period. Posted copy, report, fax, scan, and print charges are $1 for the first page and $0.50 for each additional page. Ask for electronic delivery and a cost estimate before work begins.
- Give the full name, an identity detail, approximate custody dates, and the booking or case number if known.
- Request the jail-register date and manner of discharge, booking sheet, public custody-event history, release type, and receiving authority if recorded.
- State that electronic copies are preferred and ask for an estimate before charges are incurred.
- If material is withheld, ask for the legal basis and the minimum public fields available under 51 O.S. §24A.8.
- For a certified release-related order, contact the Washington County Court Clerk separately.
The sheriff’s fee and records-custodian page shows the practical local request route.
The image connects the written release-record request to the office and charges that Washington County actually publishes.
Washington County Release Property Records
The county says property taken at arrest and barred from the jail living area is secured and stored. While still held, a person may designate someone to receive all stored property except one set of street clothes. That exception suggests clothing is kept for the later release or transfer process, but the policy does not state a post-release pickup deadline, an exit procedure, or how unclaimed property is handled. It also says money is documented and placed in commissary, without describing how a remaining balance is paid out.
Call the jail at 918-332-4011 for the current operational rule. Do not rely on practices from a different Oklahoma county. Property paperwork can help explain what was returned or released to a designee, but the jail-register discharge entry remains the better proof of when and how custody ended.
State records follow a different life cycle. ODOC policy keeps final closed offender records indefinitely under its approved record system, while temporary monthly current-release-date reports may be purged. A request for durable state proof should seek the final disposition or discharge record, not an old projected-date list.
Oklahoma Law on County Releases
The Oklahoma Open Records Act appears at 51 O.S. §§24A.1 and following. Section 24A.8 is central to Washington County release records. The Attorney General’s law-enforcement records summary identifies jail-register information that is public if kept, including the prisoner’s name, commitment facts, description, and date or manner of discharge or escape.
The law grants access to specified existing records. It does not require the sheriff to create a custom report or a field the agency never kept.
Some material may be withheld or redacted. Juvenile, sealed, expunged, victim, medical, security-sensitive, and other protected information can be absent from a public response. Ask for the legal basis when access is denied, then narrow the request if a more precise record can be produced. No enacted statewide mugshot-removal deadline was found in the official research. Senate Bill 379 proposed such rules in 2025, but its official history did not show enactment.
Note: Requesting both the date and manner of discharge helps distinguish community release from a move to another custodian.
Washington County Court Release Proof
The Washington County Court Clerk states that District Court proceedings are kept as permanent records. That makes the court case a durable source after a person drops off the live jail view. Search the Washington County OSCN database by case number when possible. Otherwise combine party name with a birth-date range, case type, and filed or closed dates. Review entries near the custody change for bond, a release order, dismissal, judgment and sentence, a time-served entry, revocation, or transport.
A docket explains legal events. It is not a live body locator and may not give the jail’s exact processing time. OSCN also warns that online information is not the official court record. For formal confirmation, ask the Court Clerk for a certified copy of the decisive order. The office is at the Washington County Judicial Center, 420 S. Johnstone Avenue, Bartlesville, and the listed phone is 918-337-2870.
Not every proceeding is open. The county identifies juvenile, guardianship, adoption, and mental-health matters as exceptions. When the court record and jail entry appear to conflict, timing may explain the difference. A judge can sign an order before the jail completes release checks, while VINE may receive the event later.
Washington County Expungement Record Help
Sealing or expungement can change what a public search returns. Oklahoma eligibility depends on the facts, dates, and law that apply to the case. No one should infer eligibility from a missing roster name or promise that every custody record will vanish. ODOC policy says an expunged offender number or record is sealed and kept in Closed Records, which helps explain why a past state record may stop appearing through the normal public path.
Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma lists a Bartlesville office at 3851 E. Tuxedo, Suite E, Bartlesville, OK 74006. Its local number is 918-336-5736, and the toll-free number is 800-421-4066. Listed hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The directory confirms a local legal-aid route, but it does not promise a dedicated expungement clinic, eligibility, or representation in every matter.
Find Washington County Released Inmates
Start with the person and the custodian most likely involved. The county sheriff’s search answers whether someone is reported in the local jail now. VINE can report a release or transfer event. The court docket can explain the judicial cause. A jail-register request supplies the durable local date and manner of discharge. ODOC belongs later in the sequence and only when a state sentence, transfer, parole, or probation is plausible.
- Search the official Washington County inmate page by name. If the person appears, the page reports current county custody at that point.
- If the name is absent, check Oklahoma VINE for that specific person and distinguish a reported release from a transfer.
- Call the jail at 918-332-4011 when the current operational status is urgent. Ask which custody ended and whether another agency received the person.
- Search the Washington County court docket for the order, bond, sentence, dismissal, or transport event near the departure.
- Request the sheriff’s jail-register discharge fields and public custody-event history for written proof.
- Use ODOC, BOP, or ICE only when the case facts point to that separate system.
A released person normally leaves the current jail roster. An absent name is only a lead because an update, transfer, spelling issue, or other event can produce the same result.
How many sources are enough? For a prompt check, a missing county result plus a matching VINE event is useful. Add the jail register for the exact discharge and the court order for its legal basis.
Washington County Release Roster Limits
The official sheriff inmate search describes itself as an in-custody search. It allows a name query and sorts current entries by booking date. Its interface can show a booking ID, name, race, gender, age, locality, bond total, booking date, charges, and a booking image when available. Those are current-booking fields. They are not a historical release list.
Washington County does not publish an official 24-hour or 72-hour release archive found in the research. Nor does the sheriff post a roster refresh interval, removal lag, or former-record retention period. Its own warning says the search may be updating and points to VINE when the person may have been released or transferred. The county’s dedicated 24-Hour Releases route therefore uses a records-based fallback rather than relabeling recent bookings as releases.
The official Washington County inmate interface shows the custody boundary in direct terms.
The screen reinforces why a missing card must be checked through VINE, the jail, court records, or a written discharge entry.
Note: Do not compare saved roster snapshots and call every difference a release; transfers, updates, and corrections can change the view.
ODOC Washington County Release Lookup
The ODOC Offender Lookup covers people who entered Oklahoma state corrections or state supervision. It is not a list of all Washington County released inmates. Someone who bonded out, served a short county term, had a charge dismissed, or went to another custodian may never appear there. Search by name or ODOC number, then match identity, county case, offense, sentence, and current custody or supervision information.
| Search or result field | How to use it | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Start with the full legal name and check spelling variants. | A shared name is not enough to confirm identity. |
| ODOC number | Use the known state identifier for a more exact match. | County-only detainees may have no ODOC record. |
| County and case | Compare the profile with the Washington County docket. | Public data is abbreviated. |
| Custody or supervision status | Distinguish prison, parole, probation, and completed jurisdiction. | Physical release is not always discharge. |
| Projected release date | Treat a displayed PRD as tentative. | Earned time, misconduct, and sentence changes may move it. |
As researched, the direct lookup warned of issues after a move to a new data source. ODOC also describes its public information as abbreviated. A public profile or PPB docket may show a projected release date, but the exact internal future calculation may be confidential and can change. For actual state discharge proof, request the final disposition or discharge history through ODOC Legal Services or Closed Records.
Washington County Release Status Systems
Oklahoma VINE is the best immediate second check after a Washington County roster disappearance because the sheriff points users there. It is a free custody-status and notification service available through the Oklahoma VINE portal and at 1-877-654-8463. A reported release or transfer gives more information than simple roster absence, but VINE remains a notification layer. Facility reporting and update timing can affect status.
Parole and probation require another check. The ODOC Bartlesville Probation and Parole Office covers Washington County at 427 Southeast Comanche, Bartlesville, 918-336-0866. A PPB action records a parole decision, not proof that release occurred or that supervision has ended. ODOC status and the assigned office provide the better verification path. More detail appears on the Post-Release Supervision page.
ODOC also maintains separate sex- and violent-offender registries. Those lists apply only when a released person has an active legal duty to register. They do not cover all Washington County releases and do not prove the date county or state custody ended. A registry status should therefore be matched to the custody and court records, not substituted for them.
Still in county custody: use the live sheriff roster and jail phone.
Released from county jail: use VINE, the jail-register discharge entry, and the court docket.
Transferred to state custody: use ODOC status, state records, and the Washington County case.
Released from federal prison: use the BOP locator and federal records.
Washington County Federal Release Search
A federal case follows a different record path. The BOP Inmate Locator covers federal inmates from 1982 to the present. Search by BOP, DCDC, FBI, or INS number, or use a name with optional race, age, and sex. Results can show the name, register number, age, race, sex, release date, and location. A past date with no listed facility means BOP reports that federal custody ended on that date. A result marked “Released” has the same limited meaning. It does not rule out state, county, immigration, parole, or supervised-release obligations.
“Unknown” means BOP has not determined the term, while a future date is projected and may change after sentence recalculation. Records for a person released before 1982 may require the National Archives. The United States Marshals Service has no public prisoner-name locator. For temporary USMS custody, use the federal court docket, BOP when the person entered that system, counsel or court contacts, and a focused USMS records request. An absent BOP result alone never proves community release.
Note: A BOP release date ends federal prison custody only and does not resolve another agency’s hold or supervision.
Washington County ICE Release Transfers
A Washington County discharge to an ICE detainer is a transfer, not a community release. The county jail entry should identify the manner of discharge and receiving authority if those facts were recorded and are public. VINE may report a transfer. Then use the ICE Online Detainee Locator as a separate custody check.
ICE says its public locator covers people currently detained and, through its attorney guidance, people released from ICE custody within the last 60 days. Search with a nine-digit A-number and country of birth, or exact first and last name plus country of birth and optional birth date. Exact spelling matters. People under 18 cannot be searched. An absent result can mean the 60-day window passed, a transfer or removal occurred, a spelling differs, or another limit applies.
The Detention Reporting and Information Line is 1-888-351-4024. Disclosure to someone other than the subject may require a signed privacy waiver, and counsel can use Form G-28. Reconcile ICE data with the Washington County discharge record rather than treating either system’s silence as proof of freedom.
Washington County Release Facility Path
The Washington County Correctional Facility is the county’s identified adult detention facility. No separate adult municipal jail, ODOC prison, federal prison, or ICE detention center within Washington County was identified in the official county and sheriff materials reviewed. That does not mean another agency can never hold a Washington County defendant. It means each outside custody path belongs to a separate system.
Washington County Correctional Facility: 611 SW Adams Blvd., Bartlesville, OK 74003; jail 918-332-4011. A community discharge normally drops from the current sheriff search. A transfer may next appear in ODOC, another county, BOP, or ICE. Confirm the branch through VINE, the jail, the court case, and the written custody event. Facility-specific property, contact, and release details are available on the Washington County Correctional Facility page.
